Welcome to a kid-friendly website about the Håyun Lågu tree of Guam! Here you will find a safe place for kids to explore this rare tree found only on the islands of Guam and Rota.

While Guam only has one mature tree left, the future is bright with optimism to ensure the survival of this species. On the main screen, kids can click on the different names of the tree parts to learn more about the species and the science-backed reasons that the tree has become rare.

Additionally, kids have the opportunity to visit other safe web-pages that expand on the topic being discussed-such as weather patterns, Guam’s History, and invasive species. The purpose of this website is to increase awareness of the Håyun Lågu tree and its importance to Guam.

In an effort to encourage family outings and creativity, there are suggestions of arts/crafts projects and field trips that could be arranged to encourage learning more about the flora and fauna of Guam. You can visit one of the Håyun Lågu tree saplings at the Ritidian Nature Wildlife Refuge located in Yigo. Kids can create their own artwork of the Håyun Lågu tree, Brown Tree Snake, Yellow Butterfly, Marianas Fruit Bat, and the Koko bird.
